Las «anomalías» eran sólo alcorques

Francisco Carrión Méndez, director del equipo de cinco arqueólogos de la Universidad de Granada que ha llevado a cabo la excavación de Alfacar, fue el encargado de presentar los aspectos más técnicos del informe preliminar, que se convertirá en definitivo cuando se envíe a la Junta de Andalucía.

Carrión recordó que para comenzar a trabajar en la zona se basaron en «informes de historiadores y en estudios geofísicos» y que estos últimos detectaron «seis anomalías» que podían corresponderse con otras tantas fosas. Pero eso, como se encargó de recalcar Carrión ayer, era únicamente una posibilidad. De antemano no se podía determinar a qué correspondían.

Una vez sobre el terreno, mediante la excavación manual – «la zona no la ha pisado ni una máquina», recalcó- el resultado fue que esas anomalías eran sólo los alcorques de una muy antigua plantación de viñedos. «No han aparecido restos óseos humanos ni ningún otro indicio», dijo. La conclusión es clara: allí nunca hubo enterramientos.

Precisó que los trabajos constaron de cuatro sondeos, uno de ellos justo al lado del monolito que recuerda a Lorca, donde algunos investigadores situaron el lugar exacto del enterramiento. Pero sólo se encontraron, allí y en los demás, alcorques de viñedos «y acometidas de agua y luz para el parque Federico García Lorca».

«No hemos dejado escapar ni un solo gramo de información, pero no ha aparecido ni una esquirla», prosiguió el especialista, que, puestos a precisar, detalló que en el tercero de los sondeos sí que se encontraron restos, pero del último tercio del siglo XX. Por ejemplo, chapas de botellas de cerveza.

El informe de Carrión y su equipo se extiende en otras consideraciones que posiblemente no son fundamentales para el caso pero que sí pueden considerarse un buen complemento. Entre otras, que en todas las áreas de excavación se han constatado «numerosas alteraciones antrópicas» y que éstas son recientes, datan de los últimos veinte años, y corresponden a la edificación del parque Federico García Lorca o a las ya citadas acometidas de agua y luz para esa instalación.

«Todo eso ha supuesto un cambio drástico del paisaje histórico», señala el informe, pero nada sirve para pensar que debajo haya nadie enterrado. La conclusión es totalmente opuesta: no ha habido enterramientos allí. «Sorprende la escasa potencia de niveles sedimentarios, donde se localizarían hipotéticamente fosas o restos humanos», menciona.

Sí se localizó, en una roca caliza que afloraba, un impacto de bala «del que no puede determinarse el momento histórico en el que se produjo ni la clase de arma con la que se realizó, si de caza o de otro tipo», explicó Carrión.

Les fouilles entreprises dans le sud de l\’Espagne n\’ont pas permis de retrouver les restes du poète Federico Garcia Lorca, dont l\’exécution en 1936 est devenue synonyme de la brutalité de la guerre civile.

Des recherches ont été menées en novembre sur le site d\’Alfacar, dans les environs de Grenade, là où l\’on croyait depuis des décennies abriter une fosse commune.

«Aucun reste d\’ossements humains n\’est apparu, pas plus que le moindre signe de présence de tombes de la guerre civile», lit-on dans un rapport communiqué vendredi par le département d\’archéologie de l\’université de Grenade.

Garcia Lorca avait été fait prisonnier en août 1936 et fusillé pour ses sympathies républicaines, dans les environs de Grenade. Les fouilles ont eu lieu à l\’endroit où Manuel Castilla, qui disait avoir participé à l\’inhumation de Garcia Lorca, avait conduit en 1966 l\’écrivain irlandais Ian Gibson.

D\’après un livre récent de l\’écrivain espagnol Gabriel Pozo, fondé sur des conversations avec la fille de l\’homme qui avait arrêté Garcia Lorca, Castilla a peut-être tout simplement induit Gibson en erreur.

Lo studio conferma che le rappresentazioni giocano un ruolo essenziale nel pensiero matematico, favorendo la comprensione di concetti e stimolando lo sviluppo di un pensiero flessibile e versatile verso la soluzione dei problemi.

Excavations in southern Spain have failed to find the remains of Spanish poet Frederico Garcia Lorca, whose 1936 killing became a symbol of a brutal civil war, a forensic report said on Friday.

Digging got under way last month on the rocky hillside believed for decades to have been an unmarked grave, and the failure casts doubt on whether Garcia Lorca\’s body will ever be found.

«No remains of human bones have appeared or other signs belonging to civil war graves,» a report by the University of Granada\’s Archaeology Department said.

Accounting for around 100,000 still presumed dead and missing in the 1936-39 Civil War, mostly shot by right-wing supporters of Francisco Franco, still divides Spaniards.

Few cases are as poignant, though, as that of Garcia Lorca, and investigations were delayed for decades by the civil war, 40 years of dictatorship, an uneasy transition to democracy and legal wrangling.

Local authorities ordered the excavation as part of a broader investigation into the remains of civil war victims.

The poet\’s niece, Laura Garcia Lorca, declined to comment on the report but has repeatedly said the family opposed the excavations, because they did not believe the findings would help heal old wounds.

Garcia Lorca, known for works including his play «Blood wedding,» was captured in August 1936 and shot for his suspected leftist sympathies by supporters of a military uprising which took place the previous month.

Spain\’s most eminent 20th century poet and contemporary of artist Salvador Dali, Garcia Lorca was killed along with a teacher and two anarchists near the southern city of Granada.

The excavation at the Alfacar site on the outskirts of Granada took place on the spot where Manuel Castilla, who said he had helped to bury Garcia Lorca, took Irish author Ian Gibson in 1966. Gibson was not immediately available for comment.

A recent book by Spanish writer Gabriel Pozo, based on interviews with the daughter of the man who arrested Garcia Lorca, said Castilla may simply have misled Gibson.

The dig produced «not one bone, item of clothing or bullet shell», said Begona Alvarez, justice minister of Andalucia.

Lorca was murdered at the start of the Spanish Civil War in 1936 by right-wing supporters of Gen Francisco Franco.

The site on a hillside outside Granada was believed for decades to be a mass grave of civil war victims.

Correspondents say the failure casts doubt on whether the poet\’s remains will ever be found.

The two-month excavation near the town of Alfacar – carried out under tight security – had been requested by relatives of other men believed buried at the spot.

It was one of several aimed at locating those still missing from Spain\’s bitter civil war.

Lorca was 38 when he died, murdered by fascists for his left-wing views, Republican sympathies and homosexuality.

Garcia Lorca was executed in 1936 at the start of the Spanish Civil War and his killing became a symbol of General Francisco Franco\’s brutal regime.

Local authorities had ordered excavation of a hillside near Granada believed for decades to be a gravesite for execution victims.

It was the site that Manuel Castilla, a Franco supporter who claimed he had helped to bury Garcia Lorca, had pointed out to Irish historian Ian Gibson in 1966.

But no remains of human bones have been found, according to a report by archeologists from the University of Granada.

Work crews dug down 40 centimetres and then hit rock, reports said.

Garcia Lorca was an acclaimed poet and playwright who penned Blood Wedding, Poet in New York and Gypsy Ballads.

He was captured in August 1936 and shot for his suspected leftist sympathies, along with a teacher and two anarchists. More than 100,000 people went missing during the 1936-39 civil war.

Efforts to find where he was buried were delayed by 40 years of Franco\’s dictatorship and Spain\’s uneasy transition to democracy.

The poet\’s family had opposed the excavations but the families of other people believed to have been killed with him had supported efforts to find the bodies.
