Book on Alejo Carpentier published in Spain

The book ‘Alejo Carpentier, Poetics of the Mediterranean’, which analyzes the categories of space and time in the work of this Cuban writer and poet, was launched in Spain on Monday.

Havana, Cuba, Jun 29.- The book ‘Alejo Carpentier, Poetics of the Mediterranean’, which analyzes the categories of space and time in the work of this Cuban writer and poet, was launched in Spain on Monday.

The book was written by Inmaculada Lopez Calahorro, a doctor of Classic Philology with the Spanish University of Granada, and it was published by the Dykinson publishing house.

In statements to Europa Press reproduced on Tuesday by Granma newspaper, Lopez Calahorro said she wrote the essay at the request of Dykinson for its new collection of classics, which also includes “Writings on Aesthetics” by Jose Lezama Lima.

Lopez Calahorro is also the author of ‘Alejo Carpentier and the Classic World’.

Alejo Carpentier (1904-1980) is regarded as one of the essential writers of the 20th century in the Spanish speaking world and one of the pioneers of the renovation of Latin American literature.
