Objeto: Conditions for the appearance of life: Prebiotic synthesis of ribonucleotides. The catalytic effect of mineral surfaces.
Requisitos:This project on the prebiotic chemistry of nucleotides is strongly interdisciplinary, as it covers materials chemistry, chemical catalysis and biochemistry. The candidate will learn to master solid materials synthesis, hybrid materials characterization techniques and biochemical characterization of the synthesized molecules. No prior specialized competence is required beyond a strong background in general and experimental chemistry. However, a strong degree of scientific curiosity and personal initiative, and an interest for the questions related to the origin of life, are highly desirable.
