“Project planning, selection, control and assessment”, coordinated by professors Rafael Herrerías Pleguezuelos and José Callejón Céspedes, of the department of Quantitative Methods for Economía and Business and published by the Publishing House of the University of Granada, collects most of the works presented, debated and defended in the IV Scientific Meeting on «Project Planning, Selection, Control and Assessment», held in Granada in 2003, sponsored by the Spanish Association of Applied Economy ASEPELT. Valuable contributions were presented on that meeting by the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the University of Granada.
Three more meetings on the subject had been held before in Almería (2000), Córdoba (2001) and Murcia (2002), but in the meeting in Granada they insisted on works on the General Assessment Theory.
In that IV Meeting they could count on the contribution of teacher de Pablo López, Professor of Financial Economy and Accounting in the UNED (Spanish Open University), who gave a lecture on pension plan’s assessment; this work opens the book.
Next, chapters 2 and 3, carried out by three authors, fit into the new methodology introduced by Professors Ballestero, Caballer and Romero, in the General Assessment Theory, so-called at first Assessment Method of the two betas.
The other four chapters, carried out by couples of Professors of the University of Granada, work on other subjects of the General Assessment Theory. Thus, chapter 4 analyses how Spanish managers assess investment projects with real options; their authors belong to the Department of Financial Economy and Accounting.
Chapter 5 studies the non-parametric distribution of the TIR based on the subjective estimations provided by an expert.
For its part, chapter 6 focuses on the goods assessment using estimations of variable sample size. And finally, in the last chapter, they take a methodology for property assessments.
The authors of these three final chapters belong to the Department of Quantitative Methods for Business and Economy of the UGR.
