The UGR collaborates on the assessment of the scientific situation of the autonomous region of Murcia

The Fundación Séneca de la Región de Murcia (Seneca Foundation of Murcia) commissioned this project to the University of Granada, after the research group Science and scientific assessment communication had carried out a similar study on the University Teaching Hospital of Navarra, in collaboration with the company MENSOR. The parameters used in these research works go from the scientific publications produced by the research teams to the budgets they obtain from public and private institutions.

The analysis of the effect in scientific publications is the speciality of the research group supervised by Evaristo Jiménez Contreras. The assessment of Murcia has been carried out from the ISI databaseswhich collect and analyse papers of the main scientific journals of the world.

In addition, and unlike other similar studies, this work of the UGR has completed the analysis with data on patents and output in the field of Humanities from the FRANCIS databases and has associated such output with the first exhaustive census of groups completed in this autonomous region.

Economic data
In all, only the ISI base provides data of 8,000 scientific journals from all over the world with a highly demanding criterion to be included on it. Thanks to this information, it has been possible to get to know who are the most important researchers of Murcia according to the scientific papers published. These data have completed with economic ones, this is, the financing they get from autonomous, national and European institutions, as well as from private companies.
