UGR scientist Jorge Andrés Rodríguez Navarro receives an award from the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry 2004

Prof. Jorge Andrés Rodríguez Navarro has been awarded in the 2004 Awards for new researchers of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry, supported by the chemical company SIGMA-ALDRICH. This teacher of the University of Granada belongs to the Department of Inorganic Chemistry and has carried out important contributions to the development of synthesis and characterization methods, and applications of supramolecular entities, including micro and nanoporous mechanic resistant materials.

In this section of the prize of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry, in which 17 scientists under 35 took part, other scientists have been awarded: Juan Modesto Clemente Juan, of the Institute of Molecular Science of Valencia; María Ángeles Herranz Astudillo, of the University Complutense of Madrid; and Oscar Mollet, of the Platform of RMN of Biomolecules, of the Scientific Park of Barcelona. The awards will be presented the next 16 of November in the Faculty of Chemistry of the University Complutense of Madrid.

Rodríguez Navarro is the only Andalusian scientist awarded in 2004. Jaume Veciana Miró, of the Materials Science Institute of the CSIC (Higher Council of Scientific Research) in Barcelona has won the senior prize. This researcher is considered to be one of the main promoters in the fields of organic conductive materials and organic molecular magnetism. Currently, he is developing a great scientific activity on nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry has also recognized the work of four more researchers on different chemistry areas, as well as two scientists who are develop their work outside Spain: Miquel Verdaguer, of the University Paris VI, and Silvia E. Braslavsky, of the Institute Max Planck, in Germany.
