The UGR develops a methodology for the examination and analysis of a statistical program in a teaching innovation project

Providing students with the necessary experience to interrelate the theoretical knowledge acquired on the suggested subjects by using the necessary computer tools for their implementation, and developing it all in the context of a real problem of applied statistics, is one of the main goals of the teaching innovation project “Methodology for the examination, analysis and computing in the development of a statistical project”, coordinated by Professor José Fernando Vera Vera with the participation of teachers José Angel Gallardo San Salvador, Rocío Raya Miranda, Eva María Ramos Ábalos, Diego Torrecilla de Amo, Antonio Luis Rodríguez López-Cañizares; and the students Carolina Rueda Pérez and Julia Sánchez-Cantalejo Castañeda.

According to the persons in charge of this teaching innovation project, approved by the Vice-Rectorate for Teaching Palling, Quality and Evaluation of the University of Granada, the development of the subjects has been prepared in a coordinated way, “making possible for the student to have the necessary knowledge to carry out practical exercises. Therefore, they expect that the students learn to face a real problem with statistical analysis of data with illustrative examples of each technique.”

Another objective of this teaching innovation project is to develop a general methodology to prepare a statistical program to interrelate the subjects of Computer Statistics, Exploratory Analysis of Data, Multivariate Analysis and Statistical Projects (Diploma Course on Statistics) and Statistics (Computer Engineering).

In the same way, they have prepared a complete guide from theoretical-practical notes of the subjects, directed towards the use of the imparted subjects as tools for the carrying out of a statistical project. An explicative handbook has been prepared for the subject Statistical Projects in which the use of the rest of the subjects is put into practice through the application to a real example.

That way, the student has a vision of the role played by every subject in the preparation of a statistical project and he faces a practical case practising all the acquired knowledge at the same time.

All this documentation has been brought together in a WEB page, also available in a CD, in such a way that the students of each subject have access to it, providing them with all the material as well as the essential information of the subject: list of topics, teaching staff, exams, assessment guidelines and important links related to the subject.
