Starts tomorrow international scientific symposium at Ciego de Avila

Delegates of scientific and academic institutions from Europe and Latin America will take part at the VIII International Scientific Symposium “UNICA 2008”, thus, students and professors will celebrate the thirty anniversary of the “Máximo Gómez Báez” University in Ciego de Avila.

Foreseen to start tomorrow, this event to be held at the first university created in the province will have workshops, conferences and PhD thesis discussions with the Spanish University of Granada.

This celebration also includes politic-cultural ceremonies, a Baseball Game with the rest of High Level Institutions of the province and a gala at the Principal Theater.

The celebration also foresees the handing over of medals, recognitions and honorary titles to personalities and local and national institutions in connection with the scientific and pedagogic work of the University.

Doctor Mario Ares Sánchez, university rector, said to the press that this academic year the “Máximo Gómez Báez” University will face the biggest graduation of the history with more than 16 300 students.
