Artificial Skin Has Been Perfected

Scientists at the University of Granada in Spain have created the world’s first artificial skin that has the resistance, firmness, and elasticity of real skin. (Next Big Future) This false-skin is grown from fibrin-agarose biomaterial. Fibrin is a protein that helps in clotting, and agarose actually comes from seaweed.

The implications of this new development are staggering. This skin is actually bio-compatible with living organisms. This development could turn the world of plastic surgery on its head, as well as finally provide an effective treatment to our soldiers who have suffered disfiguring wounds overseas. Car accident victims, burn injuries, hell-maybe even severe eczema could be treated soon with some variant on this breakthrough.
