APPOINTMENTS

Daniel H. Markstein III, a partner and shareholder in Maynard, Cooper & Gale PC law firm was elected president-elect of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Markstein, a member of the firms tax, estates and trusts and corporate and executive compensation practice groups, will become president of the national group in March 2007.

MOVES

Bayer Property Inc. has installed Bridgett Caldwell as project analysis specialist within its accounting department. She has seven years experience in real estate development. Kim Cooper, formerly of GMAC Mortgage in Tuscaloosa, has joined Wachovia Mortgage as vice president and mortgage banking leader in Birmingham, overseeing the downtown and U.S. 280 mortgage offices.

Hired as mortgage consultants are Lilianna Trujillo, who was a marketing liaison for Americas First Federal Credit Union in Birmingham; John McWhorter, who worked for Advance Mortgage in Daphne and H&R Block in Birmingham; and Ernie Davis, who has more than 11 years of mortgage origination and management experience. Griff Israel has been promoted to assistant vice president at Molton, Allen & Williams. Israel joined the company in 2004 as an account executive. New partners in the Birmingham office of Burr & Forman law firm are Joe A. Joseph, Derek F. Meek and Cathleen C. Moore, creditors rights, workouts and insolvencies; James A. Hoover, health care; India E. Vincent, intellectual property and corporate law; and Howard P. Walthall Jr., commercial litigation and intellectual property.

New associates in Birmingham are Rashad L. Blossom, Jennifer A. Harris and Jennifer B. Kimble, creditors rights, workouts and insolvencies; Julie A. Cottingham, insurance and financial services litigation; Devin C. Dolive, litigation, and labor and employment; Melinda M. Eubanks, real estate and condominium law; M. Ellen Gober, commercial litigation; John G. Newman, corporate, real estate and tax; and James L. Webb, banking and finance, and commercial real estate.

Erich N. Durlacher is a new partner in the Atlanta office and new associates are John Michael Kearns and Erin K. Richardson.

FURTHERMORE

Elaine Henley, a nurse at Montclair Baptist Medical Center, received the Woman of the Year Award from the American Business Womens organization as an outstanding woman in business. Ponya Rice, training coordinator at Alabama Center for Law and Civic Education, will deliver the keynote address to the New Schooling and Citizenship Training Seminar at the University of Granada in Granada, Spain.
