Seminario Open Quantum Systems 2: The Lindblad Equation

Daniel Manzano

Ciencias

Seminario a cargo de Daniel Manzano (QTCG, Universidad de Granada).

Resumen:

In this lecture, we will introduce the problem of Open Quantum Systems within the Markovian framework, a crucial approach for understanding dissipation and decoherence in quantum mechanics. We will begin by considering the full quantum dynamics of a composite system consisting of a subsystem of interest coupled to an environment. By systematically applying a series of approximations—such as weak coupling, Born, and Markov approximations—we will derive an effective equation of motion that governs the reduced dynamics of the subsystem. This will allow us to describe irreversible processes and the loss of quantum coherence in a controlled manner. Throughout the lecture, we will emphasize the physical meaning of these approximations and their range of validity.

El seminario es accesible para los estudiantes de grado, a los que recomendamos encarecidamente que asistan.  Para quienes no puedan asistir, el seminario estará disponible en el canal de YouTube del grupo en unos días.
