Research Assistant (MSc Degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics) (Ref: IF-XCT_01)
to work in IMDEA Materials within the framework of a research project. The project aims at investigating the mechanisms of microfluid flow within composite materials manufactured by vacuum-assisted resin infusion (VARI) process. Understanding the resin flow mechanisms is crucial to manufacture composite parts with minimum porosity by liquid moulding. The selection of the appropriate experimental technique to monitor accurately void generation and transport is a critical part of this process. Several non-destructive techniques will be used for this purpose. In addition, modelling tools will be used to rationalize the fluid behavior within the fabric.
Requirements: Candidates (less than 30 year old) should hold MSc degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline), physics, or an equivalent degree, with excellent academic credentials. Experience in programming and numerical simulation (finite elements) will be valued. Fluent English (oral and written) is mandatory. The candidate will have to be enrolled in the “Sistema Nacional de Garantía Juvenil del Ministerio de Empleo y Seguridad Social”

Conditions: Full time contract including social security coverage. Initially 2 years.
