More vitamins A, E and iron needed for breastfeeding

Women considering breastfeeding their children have been urged to follow the right diet to make sure their babies get the correct nutrition.

Research by the University of Granada has found that new mothers were not consuming enough fat, vitamin A, vitamin E or iron, the latter of which is especially important in the neurological development of infants.

Despite any worries, Jose Luis Gomez Llorente, from the Department of Paediatrics of the University of Granada, said that » human milk is the ideal method of feeding healthy newborns» , adding that it can play an important role in a child’s early months.

Referring to the presence of docosahexaenoic acid in breast milk, he also said that it » is associated with the development of different functions in the newborn, such as cognitive development (learning) and vision development» and that it could also provide protection against allergies.

Of course, beyond a good diet, another key to successful breastfeeding is to have the right clothes to facilitate it.
