With a 95.27% compliance rate in the ranking, the University of Granada (UGR) has risen to fifth place nationally and remains in the top two most transparent universities in Andalusia
According to the latest edition of the DYNTRA ranking, one of the leading benchmarks for transparency and open governance in the university sector, the UGR has strengthened its position as one of the most transparent academic institutions in the Spanish higher education system. The UGR has achieved a compliance rate of 95.27% in 2026, fulfilling 161 out of a total of 169 indicators, thereby enabling it to climb to fifth place nationally and maintain its position among the top two most transparent universities in Andalusia.
This result represents a significant improvement on last year’s ranking. Compared to 2025, the UGR has climbed five places nationally, from 10th to 5th, and improved its score by more than seven percentage points, rising from 88.17% to 95.27%. The progress achieved in recent years also reflects sustained improvements in institutional transparency. Specifically, the University has climbed from 22nd place nationally in 2022 (with a score of 70.07%) to 5th place nationally in 2026 (with a score of 95.27%).
The Dynamic Transparency Index (DYNTRA) is an international collaborative platform developed by Dyntra ivzw, a non-profit organisation based in Brussels. It assesses public information from governments, administrations and institutions based on the principles of transparency, openness and good governance. In the case of universities, the ranking evaluates compliance with indicators related to accountability, open access to institutional information, and the publication of information that is relevant to society.
In the 2026 edition, the UGR has also achieved 100% compliance in four major areas:
- Public Communication
- Transparency in Recruitment Services
- Citizen Participation and Collaboration
- Economic and Financial Transparency
The area with the greatest room for improvement continues to be Institutional Transparency, in which the University has achieved a score of 90.48%. However, this score still represents an improvement on previous years and establishes a positive trend in this category.
The data highlights our University’s ongoing commitment to advancing a proactive transparency policy and to enhancing accountability, the accessibility of public information, and our relationship with society. This progress is part of an institutional strategy to strengthen public trust, improve the quality of institutional communication, and continue to align university management models with the principles of openness, accountability, and public service.
Salvador del Barrio, the UGR’s Vice-Rector for Ceuta and Melilla Campuses, Strategic Planning and Communications, notes that: «The improvement seen in this year’s DYNTRA Transparency Ranking confirms the effectiveness of the work carried out by the University of Granada in the field of institutional transparency. This places the UGR among the top Spanish universities in this area and consolidates both our leadership in Andalusia and our national standing.»
