The Position
The Centre for Genomics and Oncological Research (GENYO) will recruit an outstanding Junior Group Leader, to establish an independent research group according to the strategic lines of the center (https://www.genyo.es/el-centro/plan-estrategico/). The successful applicant will work on any of the following fields with a focus on inflammation, inflammation and cancer, aging and/or pathways towards chronicity by addressing: 1) fundamental questions regarding the function of the human genome and its effects on cells and tissues and its impact on human health employing omics techniques (scRNASeq, spatial transcriptomics) combined with advanced machine learning and bioinformatics, or 2) The development of advanced therapies for the treatment of cancer and/or inflammatory diseases.
The Center
GENYO (www.genyo.es) has been conceived as a biomedical research space of excellence, oriented towards revealing the fundamental mechanisms of genome function and its impact on human diseases such as cancer and inflammation, with the ultimate goal of transferring the knowledge into new diagnostic and therapeutic tools. GENYO is co-funded by the Andalusian Regional Government, the pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the University of Granada (UGR).
The Offer
We are looking for a candidate to join us during 2026-2027 as junior group leader. The selected applicant will have access to his/her own lab space and state of the art facilities at GENYO and the UGR. The researcher’s salary will be covered by competitive national or international programs designed to attract excellent researchers into the Spanish science system, particularly the Ramón y Cajal program, but will also welcome LA Caixa, ERC, María Zambrano or Beatriz Galindo Junior grantees. Successful applicants supported through these calls may be eligible for the tenure track program designed by the University of Granada to stabilize excellent researchers. Additional tenure track support is also available through translational and clinical research programs such as Nicolás Monardes C2 call from the Andalusian Government in close connection with Clinical Management Clinics at Andalusian Hospitals (Unidad de Gestión Clínica).
