In a self-critical and autonomous way, the University must be guided by knowledge and the disinterested search for truth. A living University is one that engages in a continuous learning process, is open to new ideas and processes derived from innovation and the advancement of \n nowledge, has its structures designed\nto accommodate continuous change, and strives to overcome corporate inertia and\nresistance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7vw\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column nodisplay is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:20%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:80%\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-ast-global-color-0-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Our University must promote processes of social, cultural and economic transformation<\/strong><\/strong> The University must be a driving force\nfor sustainable development in order to promote social cohesion and equal opportunities among people. It must be able to anticipate new technological developments and the globalisation of the economy, which will pose significant challenges and opportunities. The complexity of this environment requires the University to collaborate with other actors, combining forces and generating synergies to lead the response to change. The University of Granada is unequivocally committed to culture and heritage, as evidenced by the multitude of initiatives that we have undertaken over the years which serve as a reference not only for us, but also for the city and province of Granada. For the celebration of its V Centenary, our University must establish close links with other institutions in its vicinity and propose joint strategies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7vw\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-ast-global-color-0-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>3. <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Our University must be committed to its environment and to the\ngoals of sustainable development.<\/strong><\/strong> In addition to equipping\nstudents with solid skills for today's world, higher education must\nfoster the development of ethically-minded citizens who are\ncommitted to the promotion of peace, the defence of human rights\nand the cultivation of democratic values. The University must be at\nthe forefront of social change on issues related to gender equality,\naccess to education, inclusion, accessibility, environmental\nsustainability, and the fight against climate change and its effects.\nIt should incorporate principles of ethics, good governance and\nsocial commitment into its core functions. Furthermore, our\nUniversity must be able to integrate the Sustainable Development\nGoals (SDGs) into its policies and all its activities, including training,\nresearch, knowledge transfer, management, outreach and service to\nsociety.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7vw\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column nodisplay is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:20%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:80%\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-ast-global-color-0-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Our University must be people-oriented and inclusive.<\/strong><\/strong> Universities\nshould help students to broaden the range of opportunities available to them, as well as\nto promote their professional and personal development.The University is responsible\nfor educating new generations in the values of diversity and inclusion, the culture of\nsolidarity, care for the environment, human development and the practice of sport.\nLikewise, the University must promote learning environments that favour the\ndevelopment of a critical, transformative and collaborative culture. University\nmanagement should be people-oriented and strive to create a set of working conditions\nand a university culture that allow for stable and appropriate career advancement,\nwork-life balance and a healthy life style.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7vw\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-ast-global-color-0-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Our University must be focused on leadership and excellence.<\/strong><\/strong> The University must be committed to leadership in all its scopes of\naction \u2014teaching, research, knowledge transfer and the generation\nof culture\u2014 as a means of advancing society and being prepared to\nface the great global challenges of the future. The University of\nGranada has an unwavering commitment to teaching excellence,\nwhich is embodied in the coordination and optimisation of all\nprocesses related to academic and administrative management, and\nour accountability for the learning process of our students.\nExcellence in research is our hallmark for the generation and\ntransfer of knowledge contributing to the development, progress\nand welfare of society. The University must strive to maintain its\nleading role in the international arena, focused on Europe and open\nto the world. It must also continue to act as a social leader in its\nenvironment and as an agent for the generation and vitalisation of\nculture.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7vw\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column nodisplay is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:20%\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:80%\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-ast-global-color-0-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Our University must be aware of its tradition and historical\nrelevance.<\/strong><\/strong> With almost five hundred years of history, our University must have a clear\nunderstanding of what it represents for society. Likewise, our institution must know and\ntransmit its traditional values and the importance of its historical background in the\nadvancement of scientific knowledge and socio-economic development. In short, the\nUniversity of Granada must build its future without losing sight of its past, its collective\nidentity and its cultural values.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:7vw\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap has-ast-global-color-0-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Our University must be proud of itself in order to reinforce a\nsense of belonging among the people who make up its\ncommunity.<\/strong> Our historical tradition, together with our leadership\nand prestige as a Spanish and international higher education\ninstitution, should increase our sense of pride in belonging to this\ninstitution.
